Do you think that the attitudes, motivation and methods used in the gym can help people to enjoy all that God has prepared for them?

In this message, Alan uses the analogy of three different groups of people at an amusement park, which he uses to represent the Kingdom of God. He goes on to say that the first group are looking in from the outside, the second group whilst inside are not enjoying the attractions, but the third group are enjoying all that the amusement park has to offer.

This reminds me of people with gym memberships. I think we all know people who talk about joining a gym but for some reason they don’t and they end up just looking in from the outside. There are others who join and may occasionally use the sauna, jacuzzi and stream room, which are all very nice, but never use the equipment and so never develop their fitness. And then there is the third group, those who use all the facilities of the gym and, as a result, improve their fitness and strength.

Have you been in one of those groups relating to a gym membership? What would make you move from a person in the first or second group to become a person in the third group? Do you think the same attitudes, motivation and methods could be used to help you become a person who enjoys all that God has prepared for you?

Tbanks Simon. I guess it all depends on how important the activity is to the person undertaking it. This applies to the gym and also unfortunately to the faith too. It occurred to me that a health scare might address both situations. God could engineer such a scare!
